Shepard Fairey spotted in Uptown

Hey!  This is my 101st post!  How exciting.

On Sunday I had to pick up a few items at Robot Love in Uptown and guess what was in the front window.

Shepard Fairey’s Obama logo!  And what I find even more magical is that just 20 minutes before taking this pictureI happened to have purchased the OBEY t-shirt with the very logo at another location at Hennepin and Lake.  I have decided that I will be wearing Obama t-shirts everyday now through November 4th so I needed to add another one to my collection.  My friend Kate is in Ohio doing her share to get our man elected, so I figure the least I can do is prance around in a t-shirt (obviously when appropriate) in the 651/612.

“This is Paul Wellstone’s seat and Al Franken deserves it”

Among the 2,200 hundred people packed into the McNamera Alumni Center at the University of Minnesota was this kid.  I asked my supervisor if I could leave early today to listen to a lady speak at McNamera, I almost felt like I needed a note from my mom.  I arrived at McNamera at 3:45pm and the line was already a wrapped around the Alumni Center’s knoll.  I waited maybe 20 minutes and then the line started to move.  The rally was really powerful with all of the amazing Democrats in the hiz-ouse like Mayor RT Rybak, Amy Klobuchar, and Margaret Anderson Kelliher.  OMG, I know this is inappropriate, by HRClinton’s hair was so god today.  And….her outfit was not a weir pastel color.  HRClinton looked so goo up on that stage.  And…She sounded even better.  The crowd loved loved loved her and i had instant perma-grin once she was at the podium.

Al Franken and HRClinton were great together on stage.  Barack Obama is going to have a great team!

Some amazing stuff is going to be happening soon!  Its already beginning!

Fostering Conversation

I woke up early this morning to see what the media was saying about last night.  Obv., I had to check my email, and I found that my inbox was full of mail from youtube, one of my videos I posted last night had over 500 views in less than 12 hours and had 14 comments.  This is very exciting to me.  I have posted the comments below.  Look at what Youtube can do, foster discussion.  Libraries are places that foster discussion as well.  Youtube and libraries can make great partners and hoepfully we will see more of this partnership.
Some of the comments are a little random, true to life.  Optimists and Pessimists, everyone is searching for info on Obama.

let’s go celebrate a man who just lost by 12 points in South Dakota.

Damn, do people still live in South Dakota? Haha, I keep forgetting that state actually exists! ROFL!

Barack is a fucking loser. Loses South Dakota, and barely winning Montana…on the day he claims the nomination. What a sack of shit
Evid3nc3 (7 hours ago)
?! He won by more in Montana than Clinton did in South Dakota! Earlier, you said “let’s go celebrate a man who just lost by 12 points in South Dakota.”

Hillary lost by 15 in Montana!

This is why he has the nomination. Because most of the contests have been like this. She may win in some states but when he wins, he wins by more.

Uhh.. yes and South Dakota was the pivotal battleground state, right? With its bountiful 3 delegates in the national election?
I don’t like being sardonic but you are ignoring the entire other 2118 delegates and 33 states he won. That is why he has the nomination.

he won the nomination by stealing Michigan…
Evid3nc3 (8 hours ago)
stealing? he wasn’t even on the ballot and Clinton wanted to get all the delegates. *that’s* stealing. Obama didn’t even make the decision for him to get Michigan delegates: the DNC did. And he still could have won without them.

And anyways are you really trying to tell me there is *no one* in Michigan who supports Obama? He deserved some delegates, realistically.

pequisto (8 hours ago)
he is being rewarded by being given delegates in a state where he took his name off the ballot.
Fuck Obama. Election thief.
Evid3nc3 (7 hours ago)
*sigh* He took his name off the ballot because he was respecting party rules. Think about it: can you really give me a good self-serving reason for him to take his name off the ballot? How would that possibly give him an advantage.
The selfish thing to do would have been for him to leave himself on the ballot even though the DNC didn’t want Michigan to vote. That is what Hillary did.

why didn’t BHO take his name off in Florida too?
screw Hussein
Evid3nc3 (7 hours ago)
I don’t know exactly but I can think of one good reason: after seeing what Hillary did in Michigan, he was afraid that she would pull the same trick in Florida and try to claim all the votes there too.
Remember, there were other candidates than Barrack back in MI and almost all of them, including John Edwards, took there names off the ballot. It was very ambitious and self-serving of her to leave her name on the ballot when the other candidates took their’s off. She was trying to bend the rules

We have NO evidence that Obama has risked AIDS (i.e – that he is gay). (When Obama was 2 years old, his parents divorced, and his father returned to Kenya.) Obama is in excellent health – He often jogs three miles and has no “excess” body fat. He has a healthy blood pressure of 90 over 60, low cholesterol and a strong heart.

St. Paul, drop it like its hot

Just in case you were not aware, Barak Obama is visiting St. Paul, the Xcel Center to exact.  All day I debated whether or not to go check out the rally.  So on my way home, I decided I would go see what Obama has to say.  Instead of exiting on 7th, I took the 5th St. exit, just to see what was going on outside the Xcel two hours before the Obama was scheduled to speak.  Two hours prior to his speech, 7pm, the doors were scheduled to open.  I  knew it would be busy, but I was impressed with the amount of people in the streets.  The line was out of control, the line was not just down the street, but it was winding through downtown and ending on Roberts St. which is not close.

The video below was taken on the 5th St exit as I was approaching the Xcel Center.  Now this video is by no means George Lucas quality, and keep in mind I am moving, the people are moving and I have a measly flip camera.

So I was pretty impressed.  But then I drove a few more blocks and the line was still there.  All the way down to Alary’s.  There is a revolution taking place!  Lets keep the momentum going!

I think the guy in the green shirt is waving people down to let them know where the beginning of the end of the line is.

Who ever your candidate is, I think it is important to recognize how brilliant it is of the Obama campaign to have his “acceptance” rally in the very city and venue that the NRC will be held.  Smart people running that campaign.  September is going to be an exciting time for the 651 and I hope the green hats are ready!
